United Development Party (PPP) chairman and Minister of Religious Affairs Suryadharma Ali said that Muslims should not fear making Islam their ideology.
He said during a regional conference in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Sunday that PPP’s cadres should not have doubts about making Islam an ideology – a way of thinking and a method to advance the nation.
Antara reported Suryadharma said that a consolidation, in terms of the party’s ideology, holds great importance for the party’s development. Suryadharma shrugged off survey results concluding that parties with religion as their ideology would be less popular, saying the surveys were made to bring down Islamic parties.source : Jakarta Post
